we must have seen many blogs where companies provide free hosting or domains. but Why ? there could be many reasons attached to that .
1.Promotional - that company might be new and wants to promote their product to get better ranking.
2. they might want to steal your domain - so be extra careful when you make changes in DNS , that could put you in trouble . have ur domain locked , research before me make changes in ur domain.
3.Poor service - i have used a hosting in past , called as 000freehost that was randomly down and used to show advertisements sometimes . that could depreciate goodwill of your domain .
CONCLUSION - if you would like to create a website for hit and trial purpose then i would suggest a free hosting , otherwise its always good to have paid domain and hosting you can get from blogger or tumblr .
tumblr has great look and feel , however blogspot is little older in look and feel but it supports almost all features. if i would need to choose between both , i would go for blogger / blogspot.
